The Kansas City Royals edged the Cleveland Indians at Municipal Stadium by the
score of 2 to 1.
Kansas City tallied 1 run in the bottom of the 7th inning. Mike Fiore lined a
base-hit. After an out was recorded, Fiore stole second with some aggressive
base running. Ed Kirkpatrick then was walked intentionally. Chuck Harrison
followed and he laced a base-knock scoring the run. Cleveland threatened in
the 9th but Kansas City was able to put down the rally.
Moe Drabowsky(3-0) got the win allowing no runs in 3 innings. Luis Tiant(4-4)
was the loser. He gave up 5 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings. The
Kansas City ballclub's record now stands at 13-19. With this loss, Cleveland
has a 3-7 record of late, 11-17 overall.
