NL Transaction May 15th

The San Diego Padres sent down 22 year old rookie reliever Leon Everitt to Triple A today. Everitt had been aquired from the Dodgers on April 17th. He was (0-1) with a 4.60 ERA in 16 innings pitched.
To replace Everitt, the Padres called up 24 year old pitcher Billy McCool. In his 6th season, McCool was selected with the 46th pick in the expansion draft from Cincinnati, who he spent his previous 5 seasons with. In 1964, at the age of 20, McCool was named the NL Rookie Pitcher of the Year. He was (1-1) with a 3.72 ERA in 10 relief innings before being sent down on April 25th.
