Minnesota jumped on top of Detroit in the 2nd inning as they scored 2 runs on
2 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by John Roseboro who
quieted the home crowd when he lined a single plating two runs. Detroit
threatened in the 9th but Minnesota was able to put down the rally.
Jim Kaat(3-3) got the win allowing 4 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Kaat was
helped out by Ron Perranoski who recorded his 6th save. Denny McLain(5-3)
was the loser.
