Juan Marichal was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game at Forbes Field as the San Francisco Giants beat the Pittsburgh
Pirates by the count of 4 to 3.

the first inning with 2 runs using 3 hits. Bobby Bonds led off and started
the rally when he banged out a single. Ron Hunt stepped up next and he laid
down a sacrifice bunt. Willie Mays then drew a walk. Willie McCovey came up
and he delivered a base-hit which scored a run. Jim Davenport stepped into
the box and doubled scoring the final run of the inning. Pittsburgh had a
chance in the 9th but they came up short.

Marichal(5-3) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. Jim
Bunning(3-3) took the loss. He gave up 4 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings of work.

With this win, San Francisco has a 16-16 record. They have been 4-6 lately.
