Willie McCovey lofted one into the 'cheap seats' at Shibe Park as the San
Francisco Giants beat the Philadelphia Phillies in 13 innings by the count of
5 to 3.
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Finally, San Francisco pulled
the game out in the 13th inning. After an out was recorded, Dick Dietz
started the rally when he slapped a one-base hit. One out later, Ray Sadecki
stepped up to the plate and he smashed a two-run homer. For the game San
Francisco out-hit Philadelphia 12 to 9.
Sadecki(5-1) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Al Raffo(0-1)
was the loser in relief. He surrendered 2 runs in 2 innings and saw his ERA
