Sonny Siebert delivered 7 solid innings as the Boston Red Sox staged a
dramatic comeback over the Seattle Pilots by a score of 3 to 2 at Fenway
Park.
Boston scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs on 3 hits. Tony Conigliaro began things off when he blasted a solo shot
(his 6th of the season). Dalton Jones stepped into the batter's box and he
slapped a base-hit. George Scott then reached on an error. Rico Petrocelli
followed and he doubled making Boston the winners and sending the 31,407 fans
home happy. Boston rapped out 7 hits for the night.
The win was credited to Vicente Romo(3-0) who went 1/3 of an inning allowing
no runs. Diego Segui(3-2) suffered the loss in relief. He gave up 2 runs and
3 hits in 1 inning.
Boston now has a record of 19-13. Seattle has a record of 12-20 after the
loss.
